People for Leisure And Youth

The City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department invites the community to partake in the effort to restore Enos House.

Enos House Restoration

In 1871, Billy and Sarah Jane Smith settled in the Santa Maria Valley and built a home where their three children would be born. In 1901, after Billy's passing, Sarah sold the family home to dairy farmer Joe Enos, a Portuguese immigrant. Under the Enos Family's stewardship, Enos House became the headquarters for an agricultural enterprise. The historical significance of the house has awarded it conservation protections from the Santa Barbara County Historical Society. With the community's aid and contributions, the redwood creation may once more luster and hold court as one of the crown jewels of the Santa Maria Valley.
